Today the Tokyo 2020 Olympics gets started in grand style, with the Opening Ceremony held at 12pm. Following will be 16 days of sporting prowess, with countries hoping to win as many medals as possible.

The Olympics were postponed last year following the coronavirus outbreak, however like the Euro 2020 they are now cleared to take place.

Athletes are following strict coronavirus protocol in Tokyo, with the aim to keep the Games as Covid-safe as possible.

From diving to badminton, surfing to pentathlon, the Olympics will bring sports fans a range of competitions.

However, fans cannot attend as usual due to the strict Covid rules, with stadiums for each event empty.

Taking place in Tokyo, there is a big time difference for Brits wanting to watch the Games live.

Coverage starts each day from 12am, running through to 6pm on BBC.

However for those unable to watch the events like there are highlights from each day.

One round of highlights will be shown each day of the Olympics from on BBC One, with more action from 8.30pm on BBC Two.
