One year has passed since the death of Australian cricket legend Shane Warne.

The sporting world was rocked when tragic news emerged of Warne’s passing while on holiday in Koh Samui, Thailand. It was announced the 52-year-old’s cause of death was a heart attack.

Warne lived a fast-paced life and it was his off-pitch personality as well as his otherworldly bowling that endeared him to fans across the world. His dazzling career spanning from 1992 to 2007 will no doubt be his crowning achievement, but here Daily Star Sport offers you alternative insight into the rock n’ roll lifestyle of the King of Spin.

When he wasn’t bamboozling batsmen with his leg-spin deliveries or charming with his commentary, Warne loved nothing more than cigarettes, a few beers and some gambling. And when he wasn’t doing that, he was bedding an astonishing number of women.

Warne was a prolific user of dating app Tinder in his later years, according to his drinking pal Lawrence Mooney. “He doesn't want to go to bed alone,” radio presenter Mooney revealed in 2018. “And he's had more [sex] than we've had hot dinners!”

He matched with single mother Kim McGrath on the app in 2015, who described her time with the Aussie by saying: “He was definitely in charge. He asked me to keep [my high heels] on while he spanked me.”

The following year, he reportedly enjoyed a steamy night with 24-year-old Simone Toon after they met on a sugar daddy website.

Simone told The Sun at the time. “He couldn't keep his hands off me. I barely had a foot in the door before he was trying to pounce on me.

"I kept him at bay for about 10 minutes but then gave up. He was all over me and stripped me naked.” And his playing days were no less hectic.

During his illustrious career, Warne was involved in several sexting scandals, most of which took place during his marriage to Simone Callahan.

Warne’s personal life first hit the headlines in 2000, when he lost the Australian vice-captaincy for sending sex texts to a British nurse while he was a father and married to Simone.

He followed it up with high-profile romps, including one with an Australian stripper in 2003 and another on the bonnet of his car, which ended his relationship with Simone in the lead-up to the famous 2005 Ashes series.

A year later in 2006, the bleach blonde-haired star was involved in a night of passion with Coralie Eichholtz and Emma Kearney at the latter's London apartment.

Pictures of Warne having sex with the two women and him wearing Playboy underwear were later published, leaving the Australian cricketer feeling betrayed.

Recalling the infamous threesome in his 2018 autobiography No Spin, Warne explained how Eichholtz sent him a text after he had played a county cricket match for Hampshire.

The message, which read: “You should be here with me,” along with a picture of her and Kearney kissing, prompted Warne to make the trip to London.

There, he smoked and drank before the women pulled out a “massive, inflatable sex toy”. After much laughter, Warne revealed: "I started kissing them both, clothes off, and then, from nowhere, they pulled a bed out of the wall! Well, we just went for it.”

Warne left the apartment at around 2.30am and drove back to Hampshire's ground, where he slept in his car. He woke up and took seven wickets against Middlesex, before being told by the News of the World they had received leaked pictures of the raunchy escapade.

His much-documented dating life with model Elizabeth Hurley between 2010 and 2013 also began less than blissfully when the smitten pair were first photographed kissing outside of a London hotel – Liz was married to Arun Nayar at the time, but later revealed the pair had privately split up.

Warne often spoke gushingly about his relationship with the actress and the couple became engaged a year after dating. Unfortunately, things weren’t to be as they decided to call off their engagement and go their separate ways in 2013, despite remaining close friends.

The Sky Sports commentator and pundit later revealed the three years he spent with Liz Hurley to be the happiest of his life. He also expressed his regret and sadness that the couple were no longer together, saying: "I was more in love with Elizabeth than I’d realised I could be.”

But Warne would soon return back to his playboy ways by reportedly having a wild foursome in 2019. It was claimed by The Sun that he invited escorts into his £2.7million pad in Maida Vale, London, for a noisy four-way.

In vintage Warnie fashion, he kept his windows open for the full two hours, much to the bemusement of his attentive neighbours.

It can be said that while the Australian legend will be remembered for inspiring millions and etching himself into sporting folklore, he had his fair share of off-pitch controversies and hardships.
