Bryce Harper’s agent Scott Boras declared the 26-year-old star “open for business” Wednesday and the two are ready to listen to “historical” offers. 

“It’s fashionable. It’s historical. Its elite. Global, certainly,” Boras said of working on a deal for Harper in free agency. “And it has inspirations that deal with great shoes and great hair. Inspirations on the part of Bryce.”

Boras’ comments come after reports indicated Harper turned down a 10-year offer from the Nationals in late September worth approximately $300 million. Though that offer is no longer on the table, USA Today reported the team is still open to working out a different deal. 

According to ESPN, Boras “all but admitted” the Nationals did give Harper a large offer but he declined it because free agency was so close and he wanted to explore his options.

“Because the player is entering the prime of his career you’re really talking about a unique and rare opportunity,” Boras said. “Anyone who’s done what Bryce Harper has done at 25, if you’ve done that, you’re almost a lock to be a Hall of Fame player.”

Harper has attention from several teams as the Phillies and White Sox have publicly admitted interest, even at a high price. 

Boras said he will go after any team that his client has interest in, despite previous comments against the Mets for hiring former longtime agent Brodie Van Wagenen as general manager.

“I will negotiate with anyone at any time if my client so desires for me to do so,” Boras added. “I don’t let my personal philosophies interfere with any of that.”

Harper, 26, was selected No. 1 overall by the Nationals in the 2010 MLB Draft and made his major league debut in 2012. The six-time All-Star and 2015 NL MVP has 184 homers, 521 RBIs and a .900 OPS during his six-year career in Washington.
