Away Game and Isotope set for Guineas rematch

Star filly Away Game will meet a capacity field that includes Queensland gun Isotope in Saturday’s Magic Millions 3YO Guineas as the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained galloper attempts make history on the Gold Coast.

Away Game is looking to become the first horse to win the Guineas 12 months after capturing the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

A capacity field of 16 runners was declared for the feature with the Kris Lees-trained Redoute’s Image the unlucky first emergency.

The in-form Boomnova, classy colt Elsberg and emerging three-year-old Private Eye are among the unlucky runners to miss out.

However, the rematch between Away Game and Isotope is undoubtably a worthy headline act for the $2 million feature with Tony Gollan’s star filly defeating the Victorian galloper last start in the Listed Gold Edition.

Maher and Eustace will also saddle up Amish Boy while the Steven O’Dea and Matthew Hoysted will also have two runners with the classy Gotta Kiss joined by Shooting For Gold.

Last start Gosford Guineas winner Forbidden Love heads north with Jim Byrne booked to ride while Toby and Trent Edmonds have recent Eagle Farm victor Smart ‘N’ Sexy engaged.

The barrier draw for the feature will take place on Tuesday.
