Floyd Mayweather is set to make more millions from his exhibition bout with Logan Paul.
The unlikely duo are set to go head-to-head in February after months of insults on social media, despite the gulf in both size and experience between the veteran boxer and the YouTube star.
The 43-year-old, who retired with a professional record of 50-0, won 15 major titles across five weight class between 1996 and 2015 – and came out of retirement in 2017 to beat former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor.
Paul has only fought once professionally, and he lost to KSI by split decision after a two-point deduction.
Although the PPV sales are set to generate millions, it is only Mayweather who is guaranteed huge riches if the pre-fight purse predictions turn out to be accurate.
On the YouTube channel DramaAlert, Daniel Keem said to their 5.77m subscribers that Mayweather has been given some huge assurances up front, but Paul has not been so fortunate.
He said: "My sources are pretty dead on. And my source gave me a text message yesterday saying Mayweather is getting paid $5m (£3.6m) up front and 50 per cent of all the sales of the pay-per-view.
"Logan is only getting paid $200,000 (£156,000) up front and only 5 per cent of all the sales of the PPV."
That update comes after Fanmio CEO Solomon Engel revealed his confidence that the matchup will surpass the 4.6m and 4.4m PPV sales of Mayweather’s bouts against Manny Pacquiao in 2015 and McGregor.
Speaking to the Sun, Engel said: "We do see it breaking the record. We have projections which I don't want to comment on but we do see it breaking the record.
"I can tell you we are very bullish on beating that number and possibly by a long shot.
"We have already sold a great deal of PPVs, which is kind of unheard of early on.”
Mayweather said in November month: "These YouTube girls better find some Barbie dolls to play with cause I’m not the one for the kid games.
“Three years ago a fighter from the UFC said my name and I had to put a muzzle on that b****. Logan Paul can get the same treatment before I go conquer Japan again.”
After Paul had said: “If I caught him. If I caught Floyd with one punch, one punch.
“I would snap the **** in half. You know me, I am eight inches taller. I am 40 lbs heavier.”
