Ebanie Bridges jokes about ‘floaties’ as she details ironic fear of the beach

Boxer Ebanie Bridges joked about how her 'floaties' don't help her swim in the sea, as she details her ironic fear of the beach. Boxing star Bridges has proven to be Australia's top fighter in recent years after becoming IBF female bantamweight champion.

Bridges descends from Sydney, and recently opened up on her upbringing down under on the 'Pub Talk' podcast with Ray Parlour and Alan Brazil. Growing up, the fighter lived not too far from one of the world's most famous beaches in Bondi beach.

Despite this, the Aussie revealed she remarkably has an ironic fear of the beach, and swimming out at sea.

Whilst featuring on the podcast and talking about her home city, Bridges said: "No, it is funny I actually don't like the beach and don't like swimming." She added: "So I don't like swimming, I hate water.

"So these [pointing at her breasts] might be floaties but they don't work! Like there are all these beaches and I'm like 'man it is not my thing'. When I moved to the UK everyone one is like 'what about the weather you know, why would you want to move her'.

"And I am like 'any excuse to not have to go to the beach!' I like cold weather and I like to just rug up wearing trackies." Bridges has shot to fame in recent years, especially after becoming world champion earlier in 2022.

The Blonde Bomber's support does not just come from around the ring, as she boasts over 500,000 followers on Instagram. Speaking about how her popularity has grown in Australia, she commented: "You know [I am] definitely one of the biggest names in boxing in Australia.

"Not just in women's, but in Australia I am at the top you know because I am international, I am a world champion. We don't have many world champions so you know, I am right up there."

The 36-year-old fighter claimed the world title, when beating former champion Maria Cecilia Roman in March of this year. The pair faced off at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, and it was Bridges who prevailed, as she defeated her Argentine rival via a unanimous decision.
