March Madness live scores, highlights from Thursday’s Round 1 NCAA Tournament games

Keep your brackets handy. March Madness 2019 begins in earnest Thursday with a glorious noon-to-midnight marathon of college basketball games.

The Day 1 schedule for the NCAA Tournament kicks off at 12:15 p.m. ET with the so-called “Pitino Bowl” between No. 7 Louisville vs. No. 10 Minnesota and features several blue blood programs up and down the bracket, including No. 2 seed Michigan State at 2:30 p.m. ET.

No. 1s Kentucky and Gonzaga, No. 2 Michigan and No. 4 Kansas also are in action throughout the afternoon and evening.

But the best game Thursday may reside in the West Region, where the world gets a glimpse at NBA lottery hopeful Ja Morant and 12-seed Murray State, which is hoping to kickstart a Cinderella run against Markus Howard and No. 5 Marquette.
