Wawrinka is one of the most successful players in the circuit, having won three Grand Slams throughout his career.
He is also one of the most experienced veterans on tour, with 2019 being his 16th year on the ATP circuit.
That gives him plenty of experience of dealing with all levels of journalists throughout his career, from sat at a press conference table to being challenged live on television.
But the 34-year-old, in action this week at Queen’s Club, faced a press conference with a difference earlier this week and it threw up a few curveballs for him to handle.
The difference? Instead of being interviewed by seasoned journalists, Wawrinka faced some hard-hitting questions from kids in a mock press conference held by Amazon Prime Video.
He was first challenged about his intake of bananas, with Wawrinka handling it in his stride and explaining how he prefers to eat protein bars on the court.
But then came the real test for Wawrinka as he was asked how he would rate himself from one-to-five stars.
Wawrinka then came back with a question of his own to get a feel of where the boy ranked the best players in the world.
“Who’s five star for you?” To which the young boy answered, “Djokovic”.
The Swiss star then wanted to know where both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal ranks before trying to answer where he rates himself.
Federer came in at number four, just behind Djokovic, but the boy’s answer to where Nadal fell on his own scale left Wawrinka a bit startled.
The Spaniard was given a measly one-out-of-five stars, to which Wawrinka took t the modest approach.
He said: “One?! Then I’m zero star” before bursting into laughter.
