David Silva will be made Manchester City’s captain for his final season at the Etihad.

The Spaniard will be looking to add to the four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and four League Cups he has won at City.

The 33-year-old has stepped in as captain in Vincent Kompany’s absence, who has now left the club to become the manager of Anderlecht.

Fernandinho and Kevin De Bruyne have also been given the armband when Kompany and Silva have been out of the side.

According to the Mirror, Pep Guardiola believes giving Silva the captaincy is the send-off he deserves.

Silva is City’s longest-serving player following Kompany’s departure, as the Spaniard joined from Valencia in 2010 for £24million.

The City midfielder has insisted he wants to quit the Premier League champions when his contract expires next summer.
