It was a night of big surprises at the NBA Draft Lottery in Chicago.
All eyes were on Williamson as the picks were revealed one by one.
The Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers and Phoenix Suns all fell out of the top four.
It was left between the Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Lakers, Knicks and Pelicans to land the No 1 overall pick.
And in a stunning twist, it was the Pelicans who ended up winning the lottery, meaning they will select Williamson with the No 1 pick on June 20.
But the result reportedly didn’t sit well with the college basketball sensation.
ESPN’s Marc J. Spears reports the 18-year-old was led out of the room swiftly after New Orleans were announced as the team to have won the No 1 pick.
And he adds that Williamson was disappointed at not seeing the Knicks win the lottery.
“Zion Williamson was QUICKLY whisked out of the room after Pelicans were announced the winner of the draft lottery,” he tweeted.
“Source said the former Duke star was rooting to go to New York, but now is going to New Orleans.”
The Knicks ended up getting the third pick, where they will likely get RJ Barrett in the draft.
That could still be seen as a strong result for New York, who will be hoping to pair Barrett with free agents such as Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
