MMA fighter Sofiane Boukichou suffered a horrendous injury as he attempted a kick during a clash, breaking his leg with a snap which echoed around the arena.
The Frenchman was aiming a kick at opponent Tom Aspinall during the first round of their bout in the Cage Warriors 101 event on Saturday night.
Aspinall blocked the kick, and Boukichou’s leg snapped, dangling away at an angle in gut-wrenching fashion.

The crack of the bone breaking can be clearly heard, and Boukichou immediately collapses to the floor, his ankle flailing to the side.
Aspinall immediately walks away, knowing the fight is over and not wanting to attack his prone foe, while the crowd can be heard groaning in shock.
Boukichou was immediately assisted by the referee, and faces months of rehab after the terrible injury suffered at the event in Liverpool.
It was a dreadful way to end the night for both fighters after just 81 seconds of the three round fight.

Englishman Aspinall, who was fighting in front of his home town crowd, extends his career record from eight bouts to six wins and two defeats – but not in the way he would have wanted.
The video of the leg break was posted by Cage Warriors to Twitter, where viewers offered their sympathies and support to Boukichou.
Aspinall was also praised, one person tweeting: ‘Not the way Tom would have wanted the fight to end. But shown himself to be a gentleman and a true sportsman as well as an athlete and fighter.’
Another praised his blocking ability: ‘A bit of credit, that was great technique and reaction on the check. Cat like. Wasn’t even that telegraphed.
