Tiger Woods, forced to withdraw after carding an opening-round 75 at the Northern Trust last week, needs a special week this week at the BMW Championship to advance to the Tour Championship and defend his 2018 title.
The top 30 in FedExCup points advance to East Lake next week in Atlanta.
Woods’ withdrawal last week because of an oblique injury dropped him from inside the top 30, at 28th, to 38th on the points list, and he finds himself 97 points back of 30th-place Andrew Putnam.
“I feel good,” Woods said Tuesday (via ESPN.com). “Feel a lot better than I felt last week. Felt good this morning, so I thought I’d give it a go.”
